A Legacy Born Right Here in Maryland
This isn't just a race — it's a piece of American sporting history. When the Cambridge Yacht Club organized the very first regatta in 1911, they lit a flame that has never gone out. At the sport's peak in the early 1950s, a convoy of racers would roll out of Cambridge to compete across the region, carrying with them innovations in engine and boat design that would reshape powerboat racing nationwide. Nine of those legendary figures are now enshrined in the sport's Hall of Fame. Cambridge didn't just host the sport — it helped build it. Local divers and medics pioneered race safety practices that drew national acclaim, making our rescue team the gold standard in the country. From hosting the first Divisional Championship in 1999 to staging the very first Triple Crown Championship in U.S. history, Cambridge has cemented its place as one of the most storied venues in powerboat racing — a home to legends past and present, and hospitality that keeps the world coming back.
